“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” Edith Sitwell, British poet

It makes me a little sad that fewer and fewer people cook at home these days. I know it’s tempting and convenient to eat at a restaurant or order take out, but there’s so much more “coziness” involved with homecooked meals, especially at this time of the year. As I look through our offerings for this quarter there are a plethora of ideas for easy cooking at home, which, of course, is our mission at BSC.

‘Tis the season for comfort food—cheese, chocolate, pasta, sauces–and we’ve got all those soul-nourishing foods covered, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to be unhealthy. BSC has a lot of
opportunities this quarter to learn about what nourishes the body as well and these two concepts don’t have to be mutually exclusive!

It’s also the holiday season, and anyone who knows me knows I’m crazy about Christmastime! We have some amazing classes that focus on the holidays and I am looking forward to every one! In addition, Bayview’s Taste the Holiday Spirit is on December 14th and BSC will have mini classes on our mezzanine level that will help you survive this hectic few weeks. Stop by and see us!

May you have a cozy winter and cook good food at home. I hope to see you soon, upstairs in the BSC kitchen!
